What is Assistive Technology?

     Assistive Technology is a way to connect children and adults with disabilities to technology tools ( see below ). The power of technology to neutralize limitations and support participation in the mainstream of society is phenomenal. The technology tools to turn dreams into realities for people with disabilities exists, and with the help of certified technicians, and  rehabilitation technology suppliers. What is “RTS” ?

     A “Rehabilitation Technology Supplier” is a specialist who provides enabling technology in the areas of wheeled mobility, seating and alternative positioning, ambulation assistance, environmental control, augmented communication, and/or activities of daily living. The RTS is employed by a company that sells durable medical equipment and offers consumers product choices, along with pricing and funding information. The company also meets basic standards of acceptable practice in the provision equipment, including: ordering, assembling, adjusting, delivering, and providing ongoing support and service to meet individuals' rehabilitation equipment needs.

What is CRTS ?

     Only certified members of NRRTS can carry the credential of CRTS™. A Certified Rehabilitation Technology Supplier™ is a NRRTS member in good standing who has passed the ATS (Assistive Technology Supplier) credentialing examination thru RESNA
