Shelly Durkin, PharmD
Shelly is a local girl, having graduated from Elk Rapids High School in 1990. After earning her associates degree at NMC, she joined the USAF and served 4 years at Luke Air Force Base, in Phoenix, Arizona as a pharmacy technician. Once her commitment to the military was completed, she moved back to Michigan and attended FSU, where she earned her Bachelors degree in Science Education. She then spent a year teaching at John Glen High School in Westland. After a lot of consideration, Shelly decided to go back to
Pharmacy school, and in 2006 she graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) in Erie, PA. The following summer, Shelly moved back to Northern Michigan, where she found her home at Thompson Pharmacy. Shelly is certified to provide immunizations and has been working with the Grand Traverse Health Department to help advance immunization levels in the community.
