Robyn graduated from Traverse City Senior High in 1993. From there she went to Central Michigan University for both her under grad and Masters degree. While attending Central Michigan University, Robyn ran Track and Field for the Chippewas.

Robyn is married to Mark Thompson and enjoys spending time with their son Tyler, who was born in 2007. In her free time, Robyn coaches track at Traverse City Central and enjoys running and biking.
