In 1976 Greg and Carole Thompson purchased what was then the “Rx Shop” from Carole’s father, Richard Green.
Greg and Carole renamed the Munson Avenue store Thompson Pharmacy and for a number of years operated the business by themselves. They moved to the current location on Union Street in Old Towne in December 1996. Today, Thompson Pharmacy & Medical is operated by Greg, his son Mark and his daughter-in-law Robyn. They employ an additional thirty people between the four stores.
In March 1999, Thompson Pharmacy & Medical added a second location inside the Oleson’s West Plaza grocery store and in April of 2006 opened a third pharmacy location inside the new Oleson’s East Plaza grocery store. The two satellite locations provide prescriptions only.
Fall of 2004 saw the opening of the Centre Street location. Services include the Assistive Technology Division for wheelchairs, adaptive medical equipment and other mobility aids. This location has become the new home for a full Service Department for repairs and service of medical equipment.
